My name is Joe Toledo of MSAD as one of the Board of Directors. There’s something else important going on! It’s the annual Constituents Day at the State House on March, 13th from 10am-12noon. Representatives from MCDHH and the State House legislative body will join us and give various presentations. Also, there will be awards for non-profits, state agencies, corporate groups, organizations, special individuals and the like. These recipients worked in ways making connections and services work in our community and they deserve to notable recognition for their hard work. You’ll have a chance to see the action of people getting these awards! After noontime, it is suggested you greet and meet your legislator to discuss your concerns or special bills of interest. What you’ll have to do first: email or write a letter to your legislator and set up an appointment for March 13th after noontime. Use this link to make contact with your legislator: https://malegislature.gov/ At the same time, I advise you to contact Carl Richardson as ADA coordinator at the State House and request for interpret access for your 1-to-1 appointments with your legislator. And Carl will get back to you with confirmation of your interpreter and exact time to meet your legislator. His email address is carl.richardson@state.ma.us Furthermore, March 30th, 2017 from 10am-12:00, there will be a DeafBlind Day at the State House. It’s important to self-advocate and show our legislators that we need them to attend to our issues and concerns. On March 30th, there will also be presentations and awards plus testimonies by DeafBlind people themselves. The Deaf and hard of hearing as well as the Deafblind communities needs you and your attention for the rest of the year–April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. The future counts on you. Thank you! Subtitled text ends with this message: “Key your eye on the social media network for updates. We need you! Bring the best to the rest of the year for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. To be continued.”
