Dr. Wilkins: Hi there! I’m a Deaf psychologist and work at two hospitals in Central Mass. Hello! Dr. Cozzens, a light skinned woman with curly brown hair hair is wearing a white lab coat and black scrubs. She is smiling. Dr. Cozzens: Hello. I am a hearing pediatrician, and I work in the South Central region of Massachusetts. Dr. Wilkins: The COVID vaccine is a critical tool to protect yourself and to end the pandemic. Dr. Billings: But you might have questions about its safety. Dr. Cozzens: The COVID vaccine is absolutely safe. Dr. Wilkins: The same safety measures used for all vaccines were followed for the COVID vaccine. Dr. Wilkins: Tens of thousands participated in vaccine trials to prove it’s safe. Dr. Billings: Since then, millions of people of different races and ethnicities have gotten vaccinated and only experienced mild side effects. Dr. Wilkins: After the vaccine shot, some people experience redness and pain at the injection site, fever, body aches, fatigue, or headaches. This is normal and usually goes away in 1-3 days. Dr. Cozzens: I got the vaccine to protect myself, my family and my patients. All of us. Dr. Wilkins: I got the vaccine as well! Dr. Billings: Me too!
