The Disability Policy Consortium is starting a new healthcare initiative called YES Health. The goal of YES Health (Your Experience: Speak up for better health care) is to bring together a community of One Care members to share your stories. Good or bad, whatever your experience might be, we will take your stories and anonymously share them with Health Practices in One Care.
Right now, YES Health is open to people with lived experience of physical disability and/or mental health needs. Why these groups? YES Health research funding concentrates on these communities. We are starting small and working with the Mongan Research Institute to better understand what is important to these two groups, especially their LTSS and behavioral health needs. We hope to expand the project after the first year.
YES Health research and advocacy is different. The entire research and advocacy project is being shaped by people with disabilities!
As a community, we are often told “no.” This is why we chose YES as part of our project’s name. We are saying yes to you and to each other, yes to this opportunity we’ve never had before to have a say in improving our own and our community’s health care.
To take part in YES Health, you must be enrolled in One Care and go to certain medical practices. Contact us to see if you are able to take part. Call us at 617-307-7374. Email us at YESHEALTH@DPCMA.ORG. This is an exciting opportunity to have a voice in your healthcare! If you could distribute the marketing materials attached (one flier is in English and other one in Spanish) throughout your networks, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Kimberley Warsett
