I’m happy to announce that the MCDHH Sign Language Mentorship Pilot Program is accepting applications. This program itself is for novice interpreters from diverse backgrounds – who have not yet passed the MCDHH screened who want to improve their knowledge and skills related to sign language interpreting. The MCDHH Mentorship Pilot program will provide hands on experience to develop the skills and the support needed to pass the MCDHH Screening. That program itself will have monthly activities that all participants will be involved in, including: – Community of practice, CoP – Peer Mentee Meetings – Mock interpreting sessions – Independent reflection activities – and time with experienced interpreters Successful applicants will develop a deep understanding of Sign Language Interpreting as a profession in a supportive and safe environment. Up to 12 mentees from across the state will be selected for the program. If you can commit to up to 25 hours a month to develop your knowledge, skills, and expertise, please apply! The program is free. Applicants who have been accepted into the program and who have completed the program successfully will receive a stipend as well as a certificate of completion.
