Exciting Announcement! Join us for the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Region 1: Virtual State Association Day on Saturday, March 08, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST. With 110 participants already registered, we’re excited to see even more join.
This special event is proudly hosted by Octavio Cuenca Maldonado, a board member of the New Jersey Association of the Deaf (NJAD) and Co-chair of NAD Region 1, along with Ivy Velez, Vice President of Community Relations at the Massachusetts State Association of the Deaf (MSAD).
🎓 Engage with a diverse range of topics presented by leaders:
Education (Presentation Session #1):
Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD) supports and promotes effective school leadership to advance education programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.
Youth (Panel Session #1):
Discussion on strategies to engage more youth through camps, workshops, and other programs. Leaders from nationwide and global initiatives will address volunteer shortages and local outreach expansion. Featuring insights from the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), NAD Youth Section (NADYS), Youth Leadership Camp (YLC), and World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section (WFDYS).
Senior Citizens (Presentation Session #2):
New England Homes for the Deaf (NEHD), established in 1901, NEHD provides a full range of care services for Deaf, seniors, including independent living and skilled nursing, in a communication-friendly, accessible setting.
Mental Health (Panel Session #2):
DeafLEAD panelists will discuss the 988 Videophone suicide and crisis lifeline, its operations, and the importance of mental health awareness nationwide.
Greet and Meet NAD: (Report Session)
Meet the President and Regional Board 1 to discuss NAD’s reports and issues
